Melancholy 2005 - 2010

A deeply personal series of prints made in the years after the loss of my partner. Working in linocut and aquatint, I moved through the stages of grief — from ascent, through rage, to solitude and oblivion — giving form to what words could not. This is art as catharsis.

A Portrait of Internal Rupture

This series of prints is more than an aesthetic exploration of graphic techniques; it is a deeply personal document of loss, pain, and the attempt to navigate the world following a tragic loss. Created in the years after the death of the artist’s partner, these works represent the stages of emotional release and the confrontation with the unspoken.

From the initial Ascent, through the raw intensity of Rage and Wrath, to the silence of Solitude and Oblivion, each print captures a moment of struggle with absence. Through the aggressive cuts of linocut and the dark tones of aquatint, the artist visualizes the weight of emptiness and the search for an exit from hopelessness. This is art as catharsis – an attempt to give form to an indescribable internal darkness in order to survive.
