Ivana Flegar Stankovic, DFA
Book Designer · Fine-Art Printmaker · Doctor of Fine Arts (DFA), Faculty of Applied Arts, University of Belgrade
I'm Ivana — a book designer based in Belgrade, and I design books as complete objects. Over the past twenty years I've created more than 1,000 covers for publishers and authors, and for many of those books I've also designed the full interior — so the cover, the layout, and every page belong to one visual whole.
I work across fiction and non-fiction, in eBook, paperback, and hardcover.

My background is in fine-art printmaking, and it shapes everything I do.
I hold a Doctor of Fine Arts (DFA) from the Faculty of Applied Arts, University of Belgrade, where I graduated in printmaking in 2005 and have taught in the printmaking workshop ever since. That training means I don't simply place elements on a page — I build an image, with real attention to composition, texture, and the feel of the finished, printed book.

I've also studied the design of banknotes and security documents at Belgrade's Academy of Criminalistic and Police Studies — a discipline built on precision and detail, which is exactly the eye I bring to a book.

Away from the screen, my quiet place is making prints by hand — traditional methods clear my head and let me think freely. My husband and son are my inspiration;
the rest of my energy comes from good food (chocolate, especially) and swimming.

If you're preparing a book — I'd love to hear about it.
